This agreement governs your invited, free use of the IT Revolution Reader Beta and any member AI connector we enable for you. It takes effect when you affirmatively accept the published version. Effective date October 5, 2026. Version 2026-10-beta.
1 The agreement and operator
Your agreement is with IT Revolution Press, LLC, 4802 SW Scholls Ferry Road, Suite F, Portland, OR 97225, United States (“IT Revolution,” “we,” or “us”). The service operates at reader.itrevolution.com and account.itrevolution.com.
Selecting “I agree to the Beta User Agreement” records your acceptance of this agreement. The separate Privacy Statement explains information practices. Acknowledging that you have read it does not give consent to optional marketing, analytics, or AI access. Those choices are separate. If you do not agree, do not use the Beta.
These terms cover Reader member community features we enable for you, alongside the relevant platform terms. A partner operator’s shared AI credential requires a separate written agreement with us, including content-use and downstream-user restrictions. A partner’s attendees do not become parties to this agreement merely by registering for an event; applicable terms must be presented and accepted through their access route. These terms do not authorise an employer-wide, team, or enterprise deployment.
2 Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18, be able to enter this agreement, and receive authorised Beta access. Your account is for you alone. Use one personal account unless we authorise otherwise. Do not share your account, sign-in link, credentials, or connector authorisation.
You may use the Reader for your own professional learning and work. Your personal access does not licence your employer or clients to use the library. Keep your sign-in method and devices secure and tell support@itrevolution.com promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for your own misuse and for access you knowingly permit; this does not make you automatically liable for activity caused by our security failure or override mandatory law.
3 Free Beta and its duration
Beta access is free and invitation-only. It ends on November 30, 2026, unless we notify you of an extension. We may end the Beta earlier for a legitimate operational, security, legal, or rights-related reason, with reasonable advance notice where practicable.
The Beta does not automatically become a paid subscription. We will not charge you when it ends. Any paid membership requires a separate purchase, clear pricing and renewal terms, and your affirmative consent. There is no commitment that paid membership will launch on a particular date.
Beta features may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn. Full audiobooks and paid checkout are not included in this Beta. A feature’s appearance in a demonstration or roadmap is not a promise that it will be available.
We record reading as described in the Privacy Statement to test service operation and author-payment measurement. Member reading during the free Beta does not generate author royalties under this Beta programme.
4 Content access and earlier purchases
Your invitation determines which books, guidance papers, journals, learning paths, and reading tools you can access. Where enabled, the member connector provides access only to content cleared for that use. Content can be added or removed if availability or rights change. We give notice of a removal affecting your current reading where practicable, unless legal or security reasons prevent advance notice.
This agreement does not cancel, shorten, or replace rights you already acquired through My Resources, Papertrell, a separate purchase, or another agreement. We will resolve any change to those rights separately under the applicable agreement and law. A migrated title is not presumed to expire merely because this Beta ends.
Material supplied under a Creative Commons or other open licence remains governed by that licence. If this agreement conflicts with rights that licence grants for that material, the open licence controls. Third-party software remains subject to its applicable licence.
5 Your licence and permitted use
For protected content covered by your Beta access, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read and view it through authorised Reader features during the access period. You may use it for your own learning and work, including making private notes. Ownership remains with IT Revolution, its authors, or other licensors.
You may quote passages with attribution where copyright law or the relevant licence permits, and use downloads that we expressly provide under their stated download terms. A download button does not authorise redistributing a protected book. These terms do not restrict rights that applicable law does not allow us to restrict, including applicable accessibility, quotation, fair-use, or other statutory exceptions. Assistive technologies that support your permitted reading are allowed and are not treated as prohibited scraping merely because they are automated.
When Beta access ends, the Beta licence ends. Stop obtaining protected content through the service and remove stored protected copies that were authorised only for the access period. This does not require deletion of your original notes, lawful quotations, open-licensed material, or copies you may retain under a separate download licence or earlier purchase.
6 Restrictions on protected content and the service
Except as expressly permitted by these terms, an applicable content licence, our written permission, or a right that cannot lawfully be restricted, you must not:
- Share access or make protected content available to another person, organisation, product, or service.
- Republish, redistribute, resell, sublicense, record, capture, or download protected content beyond the authorised features and permitted uses.
- Remove or circumvent encryption, access controls, attribution, copyright notices, watermarks, or usage limits.
- Scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or systematically extract protected content, manually or automatically; reconstruct a whole work or substantial part through repeated requests; or evade controls using multiple accounts, tools, or credentials.
- Use protected content to train or fine-tune a model, build evaluation datasets or benchmarks, or create a persistent embedding store, retrieval corpus, or substitute library. Ordinary private search and summarisation through the authorised connector are allowed under section 7.
- Probe or disrupt the service, access another person’s information, submit malicious material, or use the service unlawfully. Report suspected vulnerabilities privately to support rather than exploiting them.
These restrictions apply to protected excerpts received through the connector as well as content displayed in the Reader. They do not create ownership in your independently written ideas or in material that applicable law does not protect.
7 Member AI MCP connector
If enabled for your invitation, the MCP connector lets an AI app you choose search and retrieve limited passages for your own learning and work. Authorising an app does not authorise it to harvest the library. Per-request excerpt size does not grant permission to assemble larger portions through successive requests.
Connect only an app whose terms and settings permit you to comply with this agreement. Do not enable provider training or fine-tuning on protected material retrieved from the Reader. If you cannot control or establish that use, do not connect that configuration. Do not upload protected Reader content to other AI services outside the permitted connector workflow unless an applicable licence or nonwaivable legal right permits it.
Temporary processing needed to answer your authorised request is permitted. Do not intentionally build a persistent content corpus, share retrieved passages beyond permitted uses, or retain protected material beyond the applicable licence. Your own original notes and lawful quotations remain subject to section 5. Tell us promptly if an app unexpectedly extracts excessive material or discloses protected content.
The AI app’s provider controls its own service, including retention of conversations and copies it receives. Review its terms and privacy settings. We do not guarantee its answers, accuracy, security, or compliance, and its output does not necessarily represent an author’s views. Check important answers against the cited source. These statements do not exclude liability that the law makes ours.
Account reading history, lists, and notes require separate permission in Settings. They are off by default. Disconnecting stops future authorised requests after up to 60 seconds of cached authorisation; it does not recall material already received. See the Privacy Statement for request logs and passage receipts.
We may enforce reasonable limits on requests and cumulative retrieval, and restrict or suspend a connection to protect rights, security, or availability. We will explain material changes where practicable. We do not promise unlimited connector use. You may ask support to review a restriction that you believe is mistaken.
8 Your work and feedback
You retain rights in your original notes, lists, practice work, and feedback. You do not acquire ownership of the underlying book text or other third-party material included in them. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, reproduce, transmit, and display your contributions only as needed to operate the service, provide support, and carry out the choices described in the Privacy Statement. Service providers may process them for those purposes on our behalf.
When you choose to share your original material, that permission includes displaying it to the audience you select and allowing copies through the sharing features you enable. Members may use those authorised copies for their own learning and work with attribution, subject to third-party rights and these terms. This does not permit publishing protected book content. The service permission ends when your material is deleted, except for limited retention described in the Privacy Statement, lawful dispute processing, and copies already validly made under your sharing choice. It does not permit selling your private notes or training AI models on your contributions.
Profiles begin private. Shared profiles and lists are visible to signed-in members; public badges can be visible and searchable on the open web. Photo files are accessible to anyone with their URL even if a profile is private. Review the audience before uploading or sharing. Withdrawing sharing cannot guarantee recall of prior copies. The optional profile assessment is skippable; its answers remain staff-only except for fields you separately display through your profile.
Submit only material you have the right to use and share. Do not post unlawful, infringing, abusive or misleading content, or another person’s personal or confidential information without authority. In the Reader community, discuss ideas respectfully, do not repost others’ comments without permission, and do not engage in unsolicited selling or recruitment. Slack’s own terms also apply. We may remove or restrict material and community access under section 10; contact support to request review.
You may send suggestions for improving the service. We may use the ideas in those suggestions without payment, while respecting personal information and third-party rights. We will not publicly identify you as the source without permission. Do not submit confidential material that you are not authorised to provide.
9 Intellectual property and complaints
IT Revolution, its authors, speakers, and licensors retain their respective rights in the Reader, software, design, books, papers, transcripts, and other protected content. IT Revolution names and logos may not be used to imply endorsement without permission. All rights not expressly granted remain with the relevant owner, subject to applicable law.
Report suspected infringement to support@itrevolution.com with the work concerned, the location of the material, your contact information, and the basis of your claim. We review reports and may restrict or remove disputed material. This contact is not a representation that a DMCA designated agent has been registered. Any statutory notice procedure and registered agent details will be provided separately where applicable.
10 Content protection and suspension
We use access controls, encryption, and abuse monitoring to protect content. Some protected PDF pages carry an account-derived mark. A mark or automated alert is an investigation lead, not conclusive proof that you leaked content.
We may suspend or end access for a material breach, a legal requirement, a credible security or rights risk, or the end of this Beta. Where appropriate, we give reasons and a reasonable opportunity to correct an inadvertent breach. Urgent protection may require immediate action. Contact support to request review. We do not suspend you merely for exercising a legal privacy right or making a good-faith complaint.
You may leave the Beta and request account closure at support@itrevolution.com. No subscription cancellation or fee is required for this free Beta. The Privacy Statement explains what is deleted or retained. Ask for an export of your personal work before access ends; we continue to handle legally required access and portability requests afterwards.
11 Availability and responsibility
The Reader provides professional education, not advice tailored to your legal, financial, medical, security, or business circumstances. You remain responsible for how you apply what you read. We do not promise uninterrupted service, particular learning outcomes, or that every Beta defect will be corrected.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, this free Beta is provided as available, without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing excludes statutory standards, remedies, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. We remain responsible for obligations the law places on us.
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for remote or unforeseeable consequential loss arising from this agreement. We do not exclude liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or remedy that cannot be excluded. This Beta agreement does not impose a fixed monetary cap on such rights or on our total liability. Mandatory consumer rights take precedence over conflicting terms.
12 Changes to this agreement
We may revise this agreement for a legitimate reason such as changes to features, law, security, or content rights. We provide advance notice of material changes where practicable, show the new version, and request affirmative acceptance before applying new contractual restrictions to continued use. Changes do not retroactively authorise earlier use of your data or content.
If you decline a material change, you may stop using the free Beta and request your data and closure. Earlier purchase rights remain governed by section 4. An urgent legal or security change may require immediate restriction, followed by notice where permitted. Corrections that do not change meaning do not require renewed acceptance.
13 Oregon law and dispute resolution
Oregon law governs this agreement, except that mandatory laws protecting you where you live continue to apply. Subject to those protections and any right to sue elsewhere, disputes may be brought in courts of competent jurisdiction in Multnomah County, Oregon, including the appropriate federal court in Oregon.
Nothing prevents a regulatory complaint or urgent relief. We invite you to contact support@itrevolution.com first so we can try to resolve a concern, but doing so is not a condition that removes a legal right. This agreement contains no mandatory arbitration or class-action waiver.
14 Other terms and contact
This agreement is the contract for the limited Beta. The Privacy Statement describes personal-information practices and is not blanket permission for processing. Separate purchase agreements, open licences, and mandatory law retain the priority stated above. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcement does not waive a right.
You cannot transfer Beta access without our permission. We may transfer operation and this agreement to a successor that assumes our obligations, subject to applicable law and notice of material effects on you. Provisions concerning protected content, ownership, responsibility, and disputes survive termination as needed for their purpose; this does not extend a data-retention period.
