James Nugent

James Nugent is a Technical Fellow at General Motors, where he’s worked since November 2024 based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He came to GM from Apple, where he served as Principal Software Engineer on the Private Cloud Compute team and, before that, spent several years in Hybrid Cloud Engineering. Earlier in his career he held engineering and architecture roles at companies including HashiCorp, Joyent, and Jet.com (where he was VP of Engineering), as well as a long-running independent consultancy with Event Store, giving him a career arc spanning cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale software architecture.
